ELC Preschool Profile (as of Aug. 25,
2009)
- Teachers:
Two full-time teachers, three specialist teachers and one teaching
assistant.
- Students:
21 students:15 boys and 6 girls representing 10 nationalities -
Australia, Colombia, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Turkey,
U.K and the U S.
- Schedule:
The NIS ELC offers a full-day program, starting at 8:30 and finishing
at 3:15 on Monday, Tuesday, Thusday and Friday and at 2:00 on
Wednesday. Typically, the aged 3 and aged 4 classes are combined to
make one class. On a typical day the students gather at three times to
talk about the day or a specific topic, read together and/or sing
songs. The students also spend an allotted amount of time for
student-centered and/or teacher-led "Work Time", visit the music room
(every other day), play outside for two half-hour sessions, and spend
roughly one hour of each day at "Learning Centers."
- Admission:
To enroll in the ELC as a preschool 3 student for the 2009-10 school
year, students must have turned three years-old by August 31, 2009
(born between Sept.1, 2005-Aug. 31, 2006); students who were still aged
two as of August 31, 2009 (born between Sept.1, 2006-Aug. 31, 2007) are
eligible for the 2010-2011 school year.
*To qualify for Kindergarten, your child
must have turned five by August 31 of that school year.
