Elementary ProgramNurturing Creativity Elementary School, Grades K-5 Recognizing that each child is a unique individual with a personal learning style, the elementary school faculty at NIS works to encourage students' natural curiosity by continually providing opportunities for inquiry and self-expression. The curriculum is based on team-planned, individualized, small group and whole class instruction. Music, art, physical education, computer studies, Japanese and library classes all add to classroom lessons by building upon specific units of study and creating an environment where academic and personal skills have room to grow and mature. This cross-curricular approach provides students with many opportunities to expand their knowledge of academic subjects, and at the same time, promotes their understanding of the world around them. |
