Profile of the NIS High School (as
of Aug. 25, 2009)
- Teachers: 7 core-curriculum teachers, 13
specialist teachers
- Classes: For the 2009-2010 school year there
is one class each of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade.
- Students: 73 students from grades 9-12.
There are 32 boys and 41 girls representing 12 nationalities (Canada,
Dominican Republic, France, India, Ireland, Japan, Korea,
Netherlands, Serbia, Sri Lanka, U.K. and the U.S.)
- Schedule: The NIS high school starts at 8:30
am and finishes at 3:15 on Monday, Tuesday, Thusday and Friday and at
2:00 on Wednesday. A six-day schedule (A-F) rotates within a 5-day
week.
- Admission: To enroll in the 9th grade for
the 2009-10 school year students must have turned 14 years old by
August 31, 2009 (born between Sept.1, 1994-Aug. 31, 1995). To
enroll in the 10th grade, students must have turned 15 years old by
August 31, 2009, 16 years old for 11th grade, and 17 years old
for 12th grade.
- * Please note that 12th grade students are not eligible to enroll
after the start of the school year. A 12th grade applicant will only be
considered for admission to the 12th grade at the beginning of the
school year, provided the applicant has been enrolled in an
English-based, accredited curricular program and can sufficiently meet
the school’s graduation requirements within the school year.
- The IB Diploma requires two complete years of study;
students entering NIS after the beginning of grade 11 will not be
eligible for the IB Diploma unless the student is coming from a similar
IBDP program.
