Explanation of Fees

 

 

Explanation of Fees & Guidelines for Payment


Full application fee, registration fee, building fee and capital assessment fee are charged to all students who attend Nagoya International School during the school year, even if they enter late or withdraw early.

 

The Application Fee  is charged to all applying students to defray the costs of processing applications and administrating any examinations and is not refundable; The Registration Fee is payable once only and is not refundable; The Building Fee is a one-time, non-refundable fee charged to each student and earmarked for new building construction; The Capital Assessment Fee is an annual, non-refundable fee charged to each student for facilities redevelopment; The ESOL Fee  is charged to students who require an intensive ESOL instructional program.

 

 

Schedule of Fee Payment

  • For returning students, all tuition and applicable fees are payable on or before 10 days prior to the start of the new school year.
  • For all students who are new and enrolling in NIS for the beginning of the academic year, tuition invoices are issued after the interview has been completed. For students who complete the admissions process (including interview) and register for the start of the school year, all applicable tuition and fees are payable one week prior to the beginning of the school year. 
  • For students who enroll at mid-year, all tuition and fees must be paid within 14 days of initial billing.

 

Mid-Year Enrollment & Withdrawal

Students who register after the school year begins are charged tuition prorated at the time of admission on a basis of 180 school days.  In case of early withdrawal within the first semester, tuition will be refunded for the second semester.  Students who withdraw after the second semester has started are not entitled to a refund.

 

Installment Option

Under exceptional circumstances and upon receipt of a written request, the headmaster may allow tuition payment by the semester (two installments) or quarter (four installments). There is a ¥5,000 charge per student at the time of each installment payment.  Questions about bills and payment should be directed to the Business Office.

 

Method of Payment

All payments should be made via wire bank transfer and must be in Japanese yen.  Please contact the business office for bank codes and other information required for bank transfer.

 

Financial Delinquency

In the case of financial delinquency, school policy prohibits the release of grades,  transcripts, letters of reference or other school records.  Students whose tuition is outstanding more than 30 days may be asked
to discontinue school attendance until payment is made.

 

Student Aid

Under certain circumstances, financial aid is available for families who have difficulty in affording the school’s tuition.  For more information, please contact the Development Office and request an informational brochure.
