- Sumo Wrestlers at NIS!
- (6.9) Six Sumo wrestlers getting ready for the "Nagoya Basho" in July visited NIS for a part of the day, taking time to eat lunch, tour the school, and show off their skills. Thanks to all of them for the chance to learn about the traditions (and fun!) of sumo!
- Congratulations Class of 2009!
- (6.7) 21 graduates embarked on a new chapter in their life.
- 6th Grade Hiroshima Trip
- (6.4-5) 6th grade students visited Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and Miyajima.
- 7th Grade Shirakawa Trip
- (5.27-29) 7th grade students visited a World Heritage Site, Sirakawa village in Gifu and enjoyed various activities includeng planting rice.
- 18th Charity Walkathon
- (5.24) Many NIS students and families participated in this annual event to give support to local charitable organizations.
- Library Sleepover
- (5.22-23) Students from 1st grade to 5th grade had fun playing games and sleeping in the library.
- Habitat Team Working Hard in Malaysia
- (5.18-20) The Habitat for Humanity team is hard at work in Malaysia, leaving Nagoya on Sunday, May 17, building a home for a family in need. Team leader Mr. Hughes writes "they have battled some of the hottest days I have personally experienced in my life" and that the town has welcomed our team with open arms. Thank you to all in the NIS community for supporting the Habitat for Humanity team and to help fund the home!

- (5.9) ***
- 7th Grade Kyoto Trip
- (5.8) 7th grade students visited Kyoto.
- 10th Scholarship Golf Tournament
- (4.26) 43 golfers braved the wind and unusually chilly weather to support the school at the NIS Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament. Special thanks to the many golfers and organizations for making the event a memorable one, especially Northwest Airlines, Hilton Nagoya and Hilton Osaka for the grand prizes.
- ELC Garden Project
- (April-June) Preschool and Kindergarten students made a garden, learned how to take care of plants, and they even made a scarecrow to prevent their crops from being eaten.
- MS Musical "Dream Dealer"
- (4.24-25) The Middle School Musical performed the Japan premiere of "The Dream Dealer".
- Invention Convention
- (4.8) 5th grade inventors made presentations of their invention to other students and parents.
- Gr. 4 "Little Red Riding Hood"
- (4.7) The Grade 4 Non-Native Level Japanese language students performed "Little Red Riding Hood" for parents and other elementary students.
- MS Girls Softball Fun
- (4.3-4.4) The middle school girls softball teams played games against visiting Marist, winning two and losing two. The girls improved game by game, and both teams had a great time. Congratulations girls!
- 6th Grade "To be or not to be"
- (3.17) 6th grade students performed Shakespeare's famous tragedy, "Hamlet".
- MUN Beijing 2009
- (3.11-16) MUN (Model United Nations) team traveled to Beijing for their conference. Students were able to tour the Olympic sites as well.
- HS Drama "And Then There Were None"
- (3.9-3.10) The high school drama class performed the Agatha Christie classic "And Then There Were None". Ten people, each with something to hide and something to fear, are invited to a lonely mansion on Indian Island by a host who, surprisingly, fails to appear. One by one, the guests share the darkest secrets of their wicked pasts. And one by one, they start to die...
- PTA Game Night Fun!
- (3.6) The NIS PTA sponsored a night of fun for all at the annual Game Night. Thanks to all who made the evening a great success!

- Elem. Drama Club Performs "Magic Camp"
- (2.6) - The Elementary Drama Club performed "Magic Camp", a story of a wonderful wilderness camp where students are invited to discover powers at work in the world. Some of these traits are hidden within each of us and this story explores their powerful effects in a search for truth.

- Farewell Mr. McKenzie
- (9.12) The NIS community gathered to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Neil McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was a good friend, loving father and devoted teacher who died in his homeland New Zealand at the age of 67 on August 19, 2008 after a long fight with cancer. Mr. McKenzie nurtured the hearts and minds of hundreds of students from several schools over a 36-year teaching career in New Zealand, Korea and Japan. He will be sorely missed within the NIS community.
- Author Arnold Visits NIS
- (9.9-10) Author Caroline Arnold took time to visit with elementary and middle school students to share her love of books and writing. The students thoroughly enjoyed the time spent in the classroom working on story-telling and writing strategies. Thanks Ms. Arnold!
- High School Retreat to Nagano (8.28-30)
- (8.28-8.30) The high school students again took a two-night/three-day trip to Nagano for a variety of activities to bond and build on friendships for the year.
